quick steering problem

01 7.3, just replaced steering box, pump/master cyl. 2yrs old. pump wont take fluid when trying to bleed the system, just spills out over top. anyone ever seen this?

Could be vapor locked. You may try cracking loose a line while the resi is full and letting it gravity feed as much as possible. It may then start pumping once it starts to prime. It normally takes a couple cycles of running and letting it set so the trapped air in the fluid can settle out.

How are you trying to bleed it?

by getting front tires off ground with the key on engine off turning the wheel side to side then add fluid as needed

Thats going to push fluid out of the pump.

Engine needs to be running, or cranking at a minimum to purge the system.

yea i realized that today. someone told me NOT to run the engine and i was all pissed because it was late so i just went with it. finished it up today and drives nice! thanks for all the help
