I've done up pipes on my truck many years ago and honestly all I remember is it was a real pain in the ass. Well in the next couple of weeks I will be installing another set and I was thinking, I have access to a plasma cutter! Couldn't I just cut them out? has anybody done this?

It would end up being a bigger pain in the ass than just pulling the turbo and then the up pipes. The hardest parts will still be unbolting from the manifolds and the up pipe clamp on the turbine housing.

i was able to bolt the passengers side uppipe to the collector and shove it down past the firewall when i put my bellowed pipes in. Soooo much easier than trying to do it through the fender well

I was thinking of just cutting the bolts on the manifold and torching the pipes at the collector. If I recall correctly the biggest pain was removing the collector bolts.

just pull the turbo. go under the truck, remove/cut the bolts to the manifolds. pull the entire uppipe assembly out and deal with the bolts in the collector on the bench.

Just put bellowed up pipes on my 02, the old ones fell out when I took them loose at the exhaust manifolds. I removed the turbo to replace the o-ring and gut the epbv from the pedestal.

Re assembled the turbo and collector then put the up pipes on from the bottom with LONG extensions. I used a couple of small o-ring to hold the bolts and gasket in place while I fitted it up to the collector from the bottom. They were small enough so that when the bolts went into place, the o-rings just mashed right down into the holes in the flange. I'm sure they will burn out but it wouldn't hurt anything if they didn't.

Oh, BTW all this underneath work was done on my 2 post lift.
