Anyone had one installed? Their installing one in my truck right now. Just curious if anyone else uses it. SuperDuties are hot items for thieves around Houston. If anything at least it'll help me sleep a little better at night.

Not sure if I can post a link since they don't sponsor PSA. Maybe someone can clarify that for me.

I haven't had any experience with it but you can always do what my buddy does and its free, just unplug the throttle assembly under the dash next to the peddle. Most thieves wouldn't think to look there, it may start but their not going any where LoL.

A couple of local members have them and have been very happy with them.
You might consider a good alarm and Jimmi Jammers for deterrents, as well. As nice as your truck, the more the better. :D

Since my truck is lifted (as is yours) I had my alarm installer add some LEDs next to the front windows of my truck. Just so the kids and meth-heads KNOW there's an alarm installed. Cheap deterrent, IMO.

Good idea!

My biggest fear is to get a vehicle stolen that I've put a lot of money into. I did a lot of research on alarms, monitors, anti theft devices ect. This company seems to be the best at it and its only $500 compared to $1k or so for an alarm.

Ive heard great things about the Ravelco. Good idea for sure.

The jimmi jammers and a two way alarm are great additions as well. More layers.

When you do the jimmi jammers go ahead and delete the drivers side lock cylinder as well (install a rear door handle). Make sure you disconnect the rod for the lock.

the ravelco is very nice.

i have the poor mans version though. a remote relay that kills the power to the pcm. just unplug the stock relay and replace with this one. the contact will not close unless it's activated by the key fob on my keys. no power to the computer so no start. cost about $120 and gives me peace of mind.

I need to do something like this soon as well. All my friends are getting broken into here in San Antonio.

I like ravelco because I know I have my trucks heart in my pocket wherever I go. But I'm thinking a gps would be great just in case they really want it and tow it. In that case I should get lojack installed? Maybe I'll go on a spending spree and get both lol, and then be broke forever.

I've really thought about the ravelco before, they say not a single car has been taken with one on it. More I think about it the more I want to get it put in.

As far as alarms go, I just don't know if theyre worth it. If you have a pager, what are you gonna do when it goes off? Go shoot someone? I sure a heck am not going to. My last truck I walked out to the door open to it and the guy trying to figure out how to get my subs out. I yelled, and he left. The alarm just doesn't do much for me. My buddy got an entire system stolen out of his in a home depot parking lot at 11am with the alarm blaring. People don't care.

I like the ravelco, Jimmi jammers and the door handle with no lock hole. Didn't someone say you can do something with the lock rod or whatever its called to move it?

I've got the cheapest and BEST way not to have someone drive off without my truck.

My alarm is hooked up to my train horns,...and whenever I go somewhere..I unscrew the stickshift....

....they can't drive anywhere without a stick...LOL LOL LOL LOL.

what are you gonna do when it goes off? Go shoot someone?

Only if I feel threatened. ;) At least in a state with Castle Doctrine...

What if they put this on the news every nite in places like Houston - 'another would-be Powerstroke thief was gunned down by a law abiding citizen'.

I just bought the interior out of a truck that had been stolen and recovered (totalled). This was a sweeeeeeet truck and obviously the owner's baby, and was taken from his driveway in a dense residential area. I didn't notice how they got in, but they broke the ignition lock cylinder and drove it away. Apparently while ripping the stereo stuff out in an Arby's parking lot, they unhooked something that prevented the engine from starting or they prolly would've eventually stripped it to the carcass.

Last time I was locked out, the locksmith used the 'lil airbag thing on top of door and a rod to activate door locks. I'm not sure I could have gotten the keys out of my pocket to unlock the door any faster - it almost made me sick.

Those of us with significant investments in our trucks, especially 'older' trucks need to have a conversation with our insurance agents about insuring the real value of the truck. What they gave this guy for his truck would not cover his entertainment system - much less what I have in just my engine. Of course his lifted V10 doesn't have near the resale value a PSD would.

As far as theft deterrents go, we have to disable the truck. I'd be alot more willing to take the pain of some broken glass and a missing head unit or even some tools than the devastation of never seeing my truck again. The TPS is a good one, but what about using the brake pedal switch as a cheeep deterrent? Not being able to put it in gear would prevent it from driving away.

Thing about alarms, the ravelco guy showed me this hand held transmitter tow truck drivers use to disable alarms when one goes off while there towing a vehicle. I set my alarm (he said it works on all alarms not just factory) he left the Antenna down on the device, push the button and my doors unlocked. He said this is something thieves use that anyone can get their hands on. Said if he raised the antenna he could turn off car alarms 5 houses down, pop their trunks or whatever. He just uses it to show how easy it is and why alarms no matter how good can be disabled.

Something to think about.

Ravelco's can be bought on ebay for under 100 bucks, self install = appx 400 savings. The product would be extremely hard to defeat ! Would take hours of under dash and under hood searching !

Wow, I didn't know a transmitter like this existed.. Your right this isn't good, I'm sure thieves spend some good cash to get ahold of it. Pays for itself in notime unfortunately.

RAVELCO ANTI THEFT DEVICE

Ravelco is expensive but well worth it. Very easy to use. I used to have a remote relay installed in the fuse box on the PCM relay and one time when my wife's car was wrecked a wrecker driver on the scene of the accident had a scanner box to disarm and open the doors to my wife's car. While scanning it, it also disarmed my PCM remote relay. That is when I realized that anything with a radio frequency can be scanned and bypassed. Just remember to remove the Ravelco plug when you leave your truck and it will be there when you get back. I also suggest turning the wheels to left or the right also. So if a tow truck tries to pick you up fast and scoot your truck will go in circles.

Just my two cents!

Just thought I'd point this out. Theres a reason scotty deleted his thread now that being said. Its not that hard for a theft to search these websites and see what anti theft devices we are doing. Or even where we might live just saying thats really something to think about.

Garret deleted it in case the thief stumbled across it, not because he was watching it. Dont post pics of your plates and you dont have to worry about thieves watching the threads.

You are putting to much thought into it. Car thieves are generally opportunists to begin with. It would take way more effort and time to search forums and try to find a truck near you then it would to just go out and snatch that one you saw down the street.
