I know this isn't really the right section, but I looked and didn't see one for body related things....Feel free to yell at me and/or put it in the right spot, but....Figured this was the closest one.

What I need to know is, has anyone had to repair the handle/release on the rear extended cab doors? I had my drivers side one crap out and stop working (Wouldn't open at all) a few months ago and hadn't gotten around to looking at it and then today out of the blue the passenger side quit working (Apparently the same problem). Since the seats don't really go forward far enough to get out of the front door like the old trucks I really need to get this fixed. It seems like a common problem since both mine went out and figured someone on here might know what it is that breaks. Thanks.

Probably broke either the cable for the top latch or the bottom latch. You can remove the interior panels from inside the truck. Find the offending latch, manually operate it to open the door then remove the latch. You can temporarily operate the truck with one latch. You cannot buy the upper or lower cable from Ford, you have to buy the entire lock mechanism. It cost about 1.5 million bucks. You can keep your eye open on the want ads and find someone parting one out, or go salvage yard hunting and find the latch you need for about 15 to 20 bucks. When pulling the old latch out, do yourself a favor and attach a pull sting to it. That way you can route the new one correctly.

Awesome thanks! I'll take a look. I have access to various cable sizes and swedges to crimp on. When I can see if it's possible, I might just make a darn cable. As much as it made me chuckle, I refuse to pay 1.5 million bucks for a latch assembly. Haha. Oh yeah...One more thing...Do the panels just pull off or are there top secret screws designed to break the panel if you don't take them out before you start pulling?

Remove the two screws that hold the window latch in place, pull the top trim piece of. Just pull hard. Then behind that, there will be a few small 7-8mm screws on top of the bottom panel. Remove those, and the bottom panel slides up and off.
