Alright, so I know I've been bombarding the boards with questions, but that's how you learn right?? Anyways, my truck seems to have fairly normal regen cycles, every 220-250ish miles, more if I keep to the highway a lot, but it seems like my regen is really loud. I know that in regen, the truck sounds kind of 'whooshy', but it seems really loud to me. And before all the 'delete it' comments, I have a warranty for 22k more miles, I plan on keeping it til it expires.

it usually will be louder becuases the injectors are working twice as much due to the added injection cycle, also the more whoosing sound is from it keepign the VGT closed to help keep the egts high

Gotcha. Thank you for the solid info. That's what I figured. Can't wait to delete.

you gotta spend a little money to get the porgramer to do it but these trucks are a whole different animal with they are deleted, 2x the stock power

Mine used to idle funny when it would need to regen. If I would drive it a lot in the city (3-4 days) then hit the hiway it would stink so bad it was almost like fumes were coming into the cab lol. Deleted it with 50,000km and 1.5 years left on warranty .. if anything these truck usually go in for warranty on EGR and DPF's anyways. Just my .02 cents

I've noticed that if I drive in the city a bunch and I hit regen, it will give a big puff of smoke and then be clean after that. I'm thinking about doing a DPF R plus and just running that for a while. Seems like the most cost effective way to delete and I really don't care too much about my truck being fast. Just reliable.

Today made me decide that the DPF is getting deleted stat. I was driving to Colorado and was mid regen, driving up a steep grade hill. Truck fell on it's face and would not accelerate up the hill, just hold 65. I'm assuming it's from the regen manipulating EGTs and being limited on the amount of boost available during regen. Very annoying.

Yeah regens are bull. Delete it and do your research. It ALWAYS costs more to do things twice. So rather than buying a cheap tuner and then getting a better one down the road just get a good one right off the bat. Plus you have to remember that the tune you have on your truck controls your engine. Meaning I personally want a good reputable tune on my truck, not one that doesn't have any good research and testing behind it. Now I'm not trying to bash anyone but you will see most people running H&S, SCT, and Spartan. And there is a good reason behind that. So take it for what its worth and good luck with your truck! Oh and welcome to the forum!

I've been doing some research on the DPF R tuners, it seems like the old ones were problematic, the new ones not so much. That being said, it is tax season so my return may just have to go towards an H&S because I would love to run Gearhead tunes.
