depends which section you are talking about, and what pump, etc.
3/8 or -06 fittings are more common in AN/JIC then 5/16 or -05
its a fuel system so you either try and make everything match or if you have bigger future plans build it so you only buy the components once

5/16 is plenty. That will out flow the passages in the heads anyway.

You can use the DI style modded fuel rail plug fittings that are AN-6 (3/8") and the internal port size through the length of the head is larger than a 7/16" drill bit.

I think 7/16"+ is slightly larger than 5/16", just my opinion though....

aeromotive recommends a 4 corner feed type setup for that
excess fuel would only travel from pump to reg then return to tank

the outlet orifice on the regulators they recommend for that pump are smaller then any fitting in the system so it is sorta hard to take their claims too serious
I set mine up so the restrictions are all after the injectors by using DI fuel rail feed fittings

its a pretty big pump so I would go 1/2 or -08 to the Y block just to make it a little easier on the pump

Yes or make your own out of a fuel rail plug and a steel -6AN male fitting. Cut off the male end , braze it to the fuel rail fitting and then bore through the assembled fitting.
