I havent been able to find what I was looking for so I hope yall can give me a hand. I am looking for a remote start, nothing fancy just something that starts the truck and maybe locks/unlocks the doors. So what are the good ones that arent hard on the wallet. I dont need a fancy one that tells me the door is open unless it is with in reason $$$.

Just got a quote of $320 installed for my '01 F350. Does exactly what you asked. Locks/unlocks. Starts truck. Tells me if it started or not. oh, and cycles glow plugs.

That was at my local communications/stereo/car starter shop. Don't remember the brand.

I don't trust the best buy done here that's why I asked

Stereo shops seem to be the the place to go aside from a dealer/mechanic. I don't blame you for not trusting the d-bads at Best Buy, I wouldn't trust most of them to watch a warm cup of piss.

I have a directed system. 2 way pagger and remote start, Turbo cool down and alarm installed for 300. Was done in 2010 and was a left over model of 09. Ask for any special s or left overs. And its not truly worth it to do it ur self.

My buddy got one from AZ and trashed on me for having it installed. Well joke was on him when he spent 10 hrs on a Gasser Chevy and still had to take to some one.

Sub'd. I just started shopping around for 1 of these myself. Now that its getting cold, the remote start would be nice, plus I really want keyless entry for my truck. I think that's the thing I miss most about my superduty is the keyless entry. I got quoted $280 for a viper system installed at best buy, it had the remote start an keyless entry, an seemed reasonable but I think I'll watch this thread for awhile before I pull the trigger on anything. I just wanna make sure whatever i buy is reliable an durable

^^^Did you make it clear it was going on a diesel? Always upped the install price by $70 or so when I've asked-had something to do with a relay that may be needed for the glow plugs.

The only issues I had with my Vipers was the hood pins going bad and not allowing one to start and the other to start no matter what.

Ive got a Crimestopper installed on my truck, cost me less than 200 bucks installed.

The one thats out now, that replaced my setup is an RS7-G3

Setup with a 30 second delay, or can use the WTS light. And its also setup to run for 5 minutes after shut down when I tell it to.
