Well, im thinking about upgrading the suspension on my truck. I am looking into ditching the ready lift spacers and going with an icon 2.5" coil spring. I have PMF's 3-link on the truck already. Now my question is are resi shocks really needed? I do take the truck offroad from time to time but it is mainly street driven. Ive been looking at all brands like icon, fabtech-dirt logic, bilstein and so on but im not sure if i truly NEED a resi shock. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've been super happy with my Bilstein 5160 resis. Best shock I've ever put on my truck. I've had Bilstein 5100's and ICON 2.0's to compare to.

My Icon Omega 2.5 with the resi sure look cool. They definitely soak things up a little better, I'm assuming that's to do with the 2.5 over the 2.0 Icons I had previously. My truck is mostly a street queen also.

The omegas are the ones with the bypass tubes, so you can tune them a little on the truck which is cool but there are so many possibilities, tuning them has been an ongoing process for a couple months. I've finally got them where I want them though, and I'm happy with them. I can't help wondering if a non bypass Icon would've been set like this from the get go though.

I'm not sure I would recommend the Omegas, but I would recommend a shock with a 2.5'' body. It just seems they take bumps a lot easier than the 2.0'' I had before. That being said, the resi looks cool, but unless you're doing something that will cause the shock to heat up a lot, Icon makes a smooth body 2.5'' shock with no resi.

Those icon 2.5's are some serious equipment. pricey, but well worth. We put them into a work horse dually...rides like a caddy. I run resevoir shocks on the rear, they are nice, definitley help soften the ride. I have had 5100s, 5160s, fox, icon, edlebrock.....

Mark, what are you running up front in your red truck? Coilovers?

More info please, does the dually have coil overs in front or leafs? Anything done to the rear other them shocks? Thanks
