Restore 1952 Flixble bus (diesel related, but not PSD)

I thought I would post this Restoration and restore project. It's just some thing different, but interesting. One of the company owners bought a 1952 Flixble bus. He retored the bus with new paint job, new polished stainless steel panels and new interior. Now the old 454 gas motor is coming out and is being replaced with a used 1996 Cummins 5.9L and 6 spd Allison trans. Attached are some pictures. The bus was bought from a bus tour company in Ca. I think Orange bus something or another. The Cummins motor comes out of a damaged motor home. It too cam e from Ca.

Sweet! I'd be tempted to take an old bus like that and convert it to a motor home someday for traveling.

That bar and bus use to be in Willis. They tore it done and put a gas station in it's place.

here is one that came in to the shop. sweet ride It has a Detroit diesel in it. Year of vehicle and engine size unknown at this time.

update 08/09/12

The engine has been fitted. It is out now and it got a Maaco paint job, it is ready to go in soon. Alot of custom fitting for the drive shaft. The whole rear end had to be removed and replaced with a bigger one. Hopefully it will be ready for the road.

Just plain cool, I would have gone with something bigger than a 12v 5.9 though! They are dogs going up the mountains here. That Detroit seems like a much better option!

No, Apalachee RV Center. RV service and repair. WE don't sell. this is a restroation project of one of the Co. owners.

The engine is being fitted for good. we hope to hver her on the road soon.

A new one came in

Here is a one that a customer bought and we are going to redo for them. They loved the one that we were doing and went out and bought one for themselves.
I tell people, If I had the money to buy the biggest Motorhome with the lates and greatest gizmo's or rebuild a classic bus conversion or something similar. I would do the rebuild and restoration.
