Doing a lot to my truck this month. 225/100s s362 (currently cast, soon to be billet). I have a spare 5r110 with only 60k on it and I want to swap it in because mine is starting to slip. Found a guy who sells a triple disk billet converter at stock stall and 300rpm above stock if requested. The s362 has a .91 turbine housing.

Is the extra 300rpm above stock for the converter stall a good place to start with a non-vgt 62mm with a .91?

Really wanting some help, still always learning, Thanks Jonathan

I ran a s364 non vgt a while back with the stock converter and it spooled great. Started making boost at about 1600rpms.

That's a stock converter though. A strong converter with 1600 stall is a lot tighter than a stocker.

I talked with Paul at tcs one time about stall converters and he said they found that they actually hurt a few engines with lowering the stall on a few test converters they did. I love how my fmw 62 spools with my stock converter but if you plan on going bigger a 2k or 2200 would be fine I think

This, aftermarket converters are way more efficient, you won't blow through them like the stock one.

I would say a true 1800 would be nice but from experience not every converter company gets stall speed right.

If you plan on ever getting a bigger charger To match the 225's go 2200 now

Agreed. Hell I could get my stock converter up to 2300 before it pushed through the brakes.

Lol you should've seen me trying to put my foot through the floor with a 1700 stall and a 100 shot of nitrous trying to get it up to 2200 rpm with 4.30 gears... Thought I was gonna break the damn pedal off

I've been meaning to ask you about those 4.30s. I'm going to be daily driving on 315/35r20s. At about 28 inches tall it's going to be like having 4.30s.

Didn't have my laptop for a few days, very happy to see this got some attention. Glad you chimed in swinky, I was hoping for your input. Thanks guys, going to go with the higher stall, hopefully everything holds up good. Diesel dirt drag event in early december I plan on going to and racing my truck for the first time, going to need that converter asap, injectors are in, eased into it at 40 and go to 60, shifted and slipped real bad.

Srlxx is my favorite tune.

From what I found on the GHAP website I will be ordering the custom tunes package for larger then stock nozzles. I guess your favorite tune is the full fuel, the xx is also the reduced fuel I see on the site. How are the shifts with the full fuel tune? Since what I'm doing is similar to your current setup I figured you'd be the best guy to ask.
