SCT question

The couple of times my truck threw a CEL I hooked up the SCT, hit read DTC and it said no codes found but I hook up my cheap Advance Auto scanner and it gives me the code numbers. What gives? Is there an update I need for the SCT?

Nope. SCT just sucks at life for reading codes.

Be sure that you are scanning with the truck running. I know it says to do it just with the key forward but not started, but it's not right. It never reads codes on mine unless the truck is running.

Ok I just followed the on screen directions. The codes have long been taken care of and it slipped my mind until today that I was going to ask about it.
