ok ok not beating a dead horse and don't want this to turn into post whore thread but...

I've never been a real fan of stacks, but now that a lot tracks/pull events are requiring up pipes on side exhausts (which look down right terrible) I have been debating a single stack. I'm not too fond of cutting a hole in the bed, but I guess that's the nature of the beast. Also I currently run a bed cover but I have seen stack guys with bed covers. Anyone running a cover and a stack? It looks like they put a stainless insert ring in the bed cover (obviously where they cut the hole) and the stack goes through it. Any pics/opinions on this?

The upper part of the stack mounts to the bed cover, and the lower just sticks up inside it

Are you saying it can be done in the same way some hood stacks are designed, as pipe in pipe? Can this be done with a soft cover?

I think exhaust can be angled down too. Several trucks at the pull I was at last night had exhaust dumping over the axle toward the ground instead of a stack or running a turn up pipe on the normal side exit exhaust.

I'm figuring on doing a single stack through my tonneau at some point here. I figure I can get a couple metal rings bolted together to go around my stack hole through the vinyl, keeping the vinyl taught.

You could either cut an oval in the bed cover like average is saying, or just use a hood stack kit...

I'd probably just use a hood stack kit, with a short piece of pipe from the floor of the bed to it.

It'd be a "shorty" stack, but on a couple of trucks I've seen with "shorty" stacks, it doesn't look to bad.

I had a single stack on my superduty, I absolutely hated it, but ran it for pulling cuz like you, I thought those turn-up tips looked even worse. I didn't care for the constant noise an drone going down the freeway.
I have seen multiple people running bed covers with stacks, I'm just not positive on how it's done. I was gonna go to an upholstery shop an see what they could come up with for me but I ended up rolling the truck before I got around to that.

I know I've seen a few on here with covers and stacks. Curious to see their setups. Yea the turn ups are hard on the eyes if you ask me. I'm not sure how the axle dumps would work for the track events. The promoter told me the reasoning was "spectator safety and to keep unburnt particles off the track." yea.....

I personally don't see what's so bad about a turn up pipe for a few hooks. It's better than cutting a hole in your bed and bed cover.....and it's cheaper.

:whs:

Just slap a 90* bend on with a flat clamp and pull. When done, remove the 90* and throw it in the bed. Only need 2 9/16 wrenches to put it on and off.

Will cost less than $30 even if you have to buy the 2 wrenches LOL

That's what mine is. And the 08 mirrors really make it. It's one of my favorite things I've done
