Just fluctuating...Very slightly. You could feel it too. When i looked at the tach, the needle would slightly bounce every few seconds but never at the same time frame. just erradic kind of. I personally didnt think the EGR was the whole cause but it doesnt do it anymore. Ive been having a hpop going out for about a year..sounds like a power steering whine under the hood. Gears going bad in the pump. Just waiting till it takes a sh*t. I wonder if its having a hard time supplying at low end or would that be the low pressure pump maybe? ive heard of them grinding against the housings and making a funny noise and leaving metal flakes in the oil but the oil is clean

Low pressure you can see if the gauge on the dash is up. For high pressure oil, just monitor ICP with a scanner...

got good pressure on the dash above half way. monitored ICP when i was at Power stroke Magic. Garrett told me it was the HPOP. Said the truck should start at 40% but its having to go all the way to 70 to crank it. Said just ride it out till it takes a :flush: said some of them go 50k, some 100k before they go out. Hes the one that told me the whining noise was the gears going out in the pump. Makes sense. Its held on since 09 when i first got the truck..sluggish starts, long cranks sometimes, sometimes it cranks right up. doesnt matter if its hot or cold. it can be hot and start right up and hot and sluggish start. Same for cold..Its weird.

That makes sense. That would drive me nuts, I would have replaced it already. I'm assuming the 40 and 70 you're talking about are actually IPR % duty cycle...

^^ thats it..and yes it gets on my nerves and has since i got the truck. Some reason i like to put money into the fuel system, tires and wheels, oil system and everything else instead of fixing that. I need to get it done. Thinking about the billet diesel site HPOP

LOL, I hear that man. That dieselsite pump is sweet! Hopefully my stocker holds out long enough for them to release pumps for the newer model year trucks...

so how do i take it out and plug it then? the cooler is welded but in place. i thought they would make the truck not run right if the egr valve wasnt hooked up?

I believe most guys just leave the valve plugged in and zip tied to something up top. I just left mine in the stock location instead of using the block off plate.

So your cooler is plugged but your egr valve looks like that? Curious cause I was gonna plug my stock cooler when I change the oil cooler. May be worth it to purchase a complete egr delete kit.

probably..its a july of 03...had all the work done before i ever had a problem and before it was ever tuned..so what do i do about this? get a block off plate, and take the valve out, plate it off and what? Leave the egr valve plugged in and zip tie it somewhere? that would look tacky as hell..what do i do?
