i just put one in my truck.

believe it or not,im almost positive my wot temps are higher.

i dont remember the truck getting any hotter than 1150 degrees, with the stock ic.

now with the spearco,my wot temps are around 1350 degrees.

anyone notice anything like this?

discuss....

never noticed the WOT temps being higher, but i do remember back when i installed mine which was nearly 5 years ago that egt's while cruising were lower. I like my spearco.

I need to double check but I recall my IAT1/IAT2 temps to be within 20* of OAT. IAT1 runs less than 10* over OAT sometimes the same. IAT2 will add to OAT 10-20* at most. EGTs is a different story I don't think my numbers are that far off from everyone else.

Makes me wonder now if it's a better fuel burn causing the increased temps??

My IAT1 sits about 4F below what OAT says it is on the dash. I would say that by monitoring both IAT1 and IAT2 in conjunction with EGTs with each cooler, you should be able to find out which one is better. I'm interested for sure.

that what i was thinking. kinda like a gas job leaning out. temps exhaust temps will increase.

my truck is absolutely smoke free wot.

Well I guess, if you see a drop in IAT2 and an increase in EGTs then that would be what is happening right??

The results I've seen are that the spearco does the best job of keeping intake temps cool, but engine temps are higher with it because the air has a more difficult time passing through it, and by the time it does, the air is much hotter, heating up all the coolers behind it. If I had another 6.0, I'd go Banks because it's a good bit better than stock, tanks won't blow under high boost, and it doesn't hurt the air flow to the radiator.

A little derail.

What about the discussion in the No Limits intake about the larger charge tube creating more lag? I have a Banks IC and pipes sitting in my shop, but right now I do not want to create more lag.

larger IC pipes just create more volume to pressurize. The inlet of the intake manifold is only 3", so anything larger is a waste unless it's sole purpose is to increase flow such as in tight bends

I haven't noticed any real increase with my ECT and tranny temps over what stock guys report.
