I have put 4 starters on my 01 and this one is starting to sound bad again... the first was a brand new one from advanced 2nd and 3rd were warrenty ones from there and the 4th was a rebuild from p and h they r a very reputable place that does all the starters for our road tractors from work.. so I know the one that is on it now is not just another junk rebuild. There is no grindng just extended crank before the engine starts and it very loud. I'm am going t test my batterys tonight nd pull the starter off and take it to p andh and see if they can give me a idea of what might be going on.... am I one the right track and or does ne one have nemoe ideas of what it could be ?

Check the batteries, if they are good I would look at the battery cable itself. I had one corrode internally on my 02 and it ate three starters in a year til I got a new cable on!
