Steering issue

I just noticed that my steering became super easy to turn almost as if it had a full hydro setup. It also doesn't return back while driving. I can use my pinky to turn the steering wheel and it just stays or if give the wheel a flick it will keep going a good quarter turn before it stops. It will do it in both directions doesn't matter if my foot is on or off the brakes.

I replaced the pump last year and the PO installed a red head steering box when he had it. The only thing that is original is the steering stabilizer. Im gonna try the stabilizer first. Any other ideas of what it could be?

Could it be possible that something in the pump went bad and causing too much pressure to be made?

Turns out the steering box went bad after three years and then it caused the pump to burn up. It got do hot the dipstick on the cap melted.

Sorry for not replying, I'm not around much.
The gear develops slop normally but you've already solved the problem.

If you need a new one and you want to spend the $, I hear redhead in oregon makes a good box. I cheaped and got a Cardone reman, I may regret it when it goes or it will work fine.

Advanced auto was the cheapest place I could find.

Good luck.

I went with the redhead steering box again. Hopefully it doesn't fail again. I got a new pump from napa. I wanna say its a Cardone pump. Now I need new line because they are leaking. While I have the lines apart I will install a inline filter.
