I am posting this for a guy in my neighbor hood.
He has a 1998 Ford F350 dually 2wd. He had been chasing a vibration in the rear end for a while now. In the beginning it would only vibration at around 70mph and now the whole truck is vibrating from 30-70+mph. He has had the tires pulled and balanced multiple times, he had gone to Ford to see what they say, he had had the drive shaft balanced and the u-joints checked and replaced. He had had no luck from there.
I talked to him tonight and he went to another mechanic and had them test drive the truck. Again it started vibrating at its normal speed then he said the mechanic shifted the truck into neutral and let it coast. The vibration stopped when that happened and began again when put back into drive.
What would be causing this. I have checked everything I could think of but I am at a loss also.
