I know there were some threads on how to mount a ratchet strap system to the front end on '05-'10 4x4's for drag racing and sled pulling but I can't seem to find the threads. Anyone have any pics or details on how to set it up?

I thought i remembered people saying they go from the radius arm to the top of the coil bucket but i could be wrong.

When I've seen Mike and those guys do it I think they go to the radius arm and either frame or coil bucket. Get some big dudes to get the front end squatting while it gets strapped. I've yet to try it with mine though. Was thinking about welding on some hooks so it would make it easier

Worst. Advice. Ever.

Danny knows how to strap down a front end. He built be a set of straps for my 7.3 many years ago. I think what he's looking for is what people are using to mechanically keep it down, and where. Me personally, I'd make myself something out of a ratchet strap. Mount it at the frame near the bucket and hook to the axle or the radius arm where you can.

He put a set on my race truck down in Texas in 07 I think it was. Danny I helped Rudy strap down his regular cab for a pull, we went from the frame right by the bucket to the radius arm. Got a "healthy" guy to stand up on the tow hook so the front would go down more to strap it lower. It worked great to keep the front end under control

Strapping a front end for pulling isn't the best way to get traction to the ground... at all actually. If you want to stop hopping yes it will work great, but a 3 link or 4 link or dual rancho 9000xls will put down the power better than straps. And without a doubt shocks are def a better solution then straps on pavement. I've cut 1.58 60' with my truck and never had it hop with the ranchos. But don't mind my derail just thought I could help rather then staps.

Im curious as to who else has ran the ranchos with a 4 link? vs bilsteins with 4 link for pulling or drag racing.

Did anybody have hop with a 4 link that either shock cured?

IMO, before I would spend $400+ on dual shocks of any kind I would try and save the extra to do a 4 link.

I dropped one to two tenths strapping down the front end of my previous trucks. I'll go ahead and stick with what doesn't work at all.

I ran a 4 link with fox shocks in my 6.0, no strapping. Never seemed to have the problem with wheel hop.

Honestly I think the "charge" in the shock is what helps all as it keeps the wheels planted on the ground.

Danny your icons should have way more rebound on them than any other em of th mill shock as well as you being able to adjust your compression to hard.
In theory this will help plant the tires.

Wasn't your last truck leafs ?
Big difference. There's a thread in the drag forum. Bigrpowr I believe was against strapping a coil front end. But all for it with leafs

I saw no difference strapped or not on my 08, it would just spin more. But I only ran at the strip. Never ran the stock setup pulling.

As far as running dual shocks at both coners up front, I believe Morgan is running this setup on his 2.6 truck. And the truck hooks extremely well. Dont know how the setup reacts to drag racing though.

Good point. I'll try it and see how it goes.
