I recently installed new injectors (stock) and RR. With the regulator maxed out I'm only seeing 51psi at idle. I don't have an electric psi gauge so idk what it's dropping to at WOT. But looking to upgrade a little. I know the ideal thing to do would be a Fuelab or Aero. pump, 7.3 or 6.4 pusher pump, OR even the new 6.7 pump, but I'm pretty set on just replacing my weak OEM pump since I know I'll never go bigger than stock sticks. Anybody ever seen a sump sending fuel to the stock pump?

Figured it would be a minor improvement. A new, healthy pump that wouldn't have to work as hard as if it was pulling fuel up and out of the tank

Well that's the plan, but just thought it would be a cheap and easy way to help keep the pump from working as hard on WOT runs. I was told there's some kind of filter on the pickup tube in the tank that can clog over time and make you lose pressure, which is another reason I want a sump

That's what I'm running now. 3/8" fuel line
With a hose clamp will fit on your factory pump "suction" and won't leak. Install sump, run 1/2" or 5/8" (whatever your sump is) to a reducer to 3/8" and run is straight to your pump.

I run a sump to my HFCM. Stock injectors, regulated return, not yet installed. Stock pump with 65,xxx miles on it. Holds decent pressure. I'm going to add a 6.4 LP pump between the sump and HFCM.

Sweet! So did you do your sump to hfcm the same way as mentioned above??

The sump isnt going to help anything with the stock HFCM, You only need a sump when you go to a larger pump.

No Sir, it does help. Pre sump Id drop to 45~ish psi @ WOT, now I'll drop from 69psi to 55psi and pick back up to 60psi. I know a lot of guys with the same results. I also know of several trucks feeding 190's with a sump to 6.4 LP pump to stock HFCM to a regulated return and holding a constant 55psi at all times.

Once their is fuel in the draw straw its working as a syphon, i dont see it helping with a sump. Swinky did the same thing i believe and noticed no difference.

I just thought it was a good idea since I'm replacing the pump, and figured it would be good insurance for a fresh pump, and will put me ahead of the game if I ever decide to do a Fuelab or Aeromotive setup

Jared is ghey and his truck cannot be trusted. LOL

I have done the sump and seen positive results as have many other members. I would say at very minimum, you should upgrade the size of the draw straw in tank, but a sump is much easier. You should also take into consideration the fact that the sump eliminates the 1/4 tank issues some have as well as it allows for less restriction and it becomes a no brainer IMHO.

I forgot to mention that Jared is running 190's as well. The stock pump isnt going to keep up with those regardless of what you do to the stock HFCM. He needs an aftermarket pump such as an A1000 with his setup.

I usually have Adam Birdwell at Strokers Unlimited do all my stuff, and last time I talked to him he was getting the fuel line and sump together for me. I started this thread before I originally asked him about making it for me. Thanks anyway though!!
