T444e interchange with PSD parts?

I'm looking at a 96 international 4700 rollback with a 444 in it.

It has a few quirks but the price is cheap.

I know very little about a 7.3 but am very familiar with 6.0 & 6.4.

What, if any parts will interchange?

The main issue I'm posed with at the moment is starting.

It won't start without a shot of ether, save the flaming, I know its a bad idea Lol...but when it cranks it runs like a champ. Any ideas where to start?

Fwiw it has been parked for close to a year.

Anything can be interchanged between the t444e and the 7.3, considering they have the sane blocks. There arw differences, such as front covers, turbos, water and fuel pumps, tuning, etc, but it all can bolt up to either block. And I would check the glowplug relay and glowplugs for the starting problem.

I see 7.3 injectors coded differently for different applications such as ab, b,aa and such...what do these mean?

I have decided I'm going to buy the 4700, and figure it'll take a little to make it road worthy...I figure as the very least, a set of gp's , injectors, and a turbo rebuild so I'll start sourcing parts from vendors soon.

Anyone know the model of the turbo?

I may be interested in upgrading it all together.

The different codes are different cc's of fuel, and some are single shot and some are split shot injectors. And I'd have to see a pic of the turbo. Its probably just like the obs turbos. I worked on a 96-97ish box truck once with a t444e and the turbo looked identical to an obs turbo iirc. The newer ones had like a garrett gt37 or something like that

I'll snap pics in a few days.

It does look like an open t4 flange however. It isn't a vband...but the exhaust connection is a vband I have never messed w an obs engine so I can't say one way or the other. Would it have been possible for the same year engine to have more than 1 injector possibility?

Is that how international got the various power ratings from the same engines?

Yes I believe that is how they based their power ratings, that and tiuning of course. And that is probably the same as an obs turbo then

Many of the parts are similar, but different between the 444e and the PSD. I know for fact the oil coolers are different as are many of the bolt on parts externally, but both engines are essentially the same.

The blocks are the same. Everything made for one will bolt on the other, but some things would require extra brackets/ covers etc...

Exactly. For example, the oil coolers have the same bolt pattern but the end caps are slightly different, making the 444e oil cooler sit at a different angle on the block compared to the 7.3 one and a huge pain in the arse to fish into place (learned that one the hard way).

As far as I know, all the cams have the same lift, duration etc. Did we ever figure out if obs/444e cams actually have an extra lobe for the mechanical fuel pump, or if super duty cams have the lobe and just not the hole in the block?
