Other than adding a external reservoir for extra fluid capacity and tapping into the stock steering box, what all would be needed to add the powersteering pump from the international engine to the stock pump? I want to add a ram assist and extra oil volume because the stock setup sucks ass. Thoughts?

If you had a Gen3 you could just run a tandem top pump. I would run a rather small displacement pump regardless. If you get to hurling too much fluid around you're going to potentially run into excessive restriction in places, which can lead to aeration, heat and other unsightly problems.

Bare in mind also, you will gain zero additional turning strength. All the addition of another pump will provide is additional speed through increased available volume. The pressure relief in the stock pump will still activate the same. Now if you pumped so much fluid that you overan the relief valve so much that additional pressure was achieved.... then watch out hoses, lol. And watch out fluid temp...

Thanks for the input. I also included in the post I plan on adding a ram assist for more surface area for the pressure to act on. Seems logical to add a lateral ram.

No**** at idle in gear I can not turn my steering wheel at all on dry pavement unless the truck is rolling

Something to keep in mind as well. I don't know what size tire you are running, but our dually was always harder to turn than the others. A month or so ago it blew a line and the pump burned up. I replaced the pump with an Advance Auto reman and the thing is one finger easy sitting perfectly still now...

Unless you've already been there, I might try a good pump first. You may even simply adjust the relief of the pump you have. I'm sure somebody has instructions on how to do it to the pump in question.

Im running a 12" wide tire. I have another pump sitting on the shelf, don't know the condition but I shall give it a try. Only reason im asking is because I already have the pump and reservoir

what brand is the advanced auto reman...dorman, cardon?

I tried a cardone from about a week ago and it lasted all of a mile before it quit pumping so i picked up a motorcraft reman, it has a little whine but is fairly effortless. Not one finger 1975 Cadillac is is the column attached but pretty easy

It says Fenco on the box. It was the cheapest pos I could find. Works like a charm. I'm tired of spending more for less. I buy the cheapest sh*t I can find at Advance and it has proven to have the same success rate as the stuff that costs twice as much. So F it.
