Test Stock Clutch Fan?

Any positive way to test this thing?

Feels like it's always engaged and stretching out my warm up times and keeping my oil from getting up to temp (150-160*EOT max after 30+ min of highway).

Mine seems to turn on all the time too. These things have goofy clutch operations.

I only hear mine on really hot days. There is know doubting when it is working. Sounds like somebody parked a 747 under the hood.

If its dragging, it's likely working.

What's the ECT doin when the EOT is low?

Within 10-15*. Doesn't seem hot enough to open the thermostat, but it could be partially open.

Think I'm gonna order a 203* T-stat and new housing . . .

*Edit - Ordered.

I did replace the t-stat when I did the water pump in the spring, but I replaced it with a Napa replacement unit. I think it was only 192 or 195, so I'm hoping I'll see a difference,

My fan clutch is gawwwwwwwwn.....just discovered it when I started pulling my motor last Friday night.

I wonxered why it spun so easily.

203* Thermostat from DieselSite (and their Billet Housing), made a huge difference. Oil temps at idle/city speeds were 145-150, 150-160 on the highway. Now it's about 165-180 idle/city, and 185-195 on the highway. Perfect! Still have the grille blocked off to help warm up faster though.

Just wanted to put this info out there for anyone else in the North that has trouble in the winter. For the $35-90, this was cheap help. Now I hope I see my winter mileage back up a bit!
