Would there be any point installing Comp 910 springs in a high mileage engine with just Stage 1's and a D66? I am talking 200,000 plus miles and no plans to ever rev it fast or go bigger.

Thanks.

I would do it. I have 325k on mine and I am planning in doing it. I have also heard that there are some other springs out there that you don't have to shim. It is in one of the threads here I just can't remember which one. But I do want to look into those too.

Some have noted how weak the stock springs are with high mileage. So this sounds like a good idea considering the small investment.

Thanks for your input.

if you put either of those valve springs in do you have to get push rods too? or are the stock ones strong enough to push the heavier springs?

They aren't that much heavier that the pushrod should bend. They bend when their are problems, or you are running a big boost and large springs.

no, it's just a stock turbo with a wicked wheel and baby swamps injectors. if anything a d66 will find it's way on at some point but it's not set in stone.

I would upgrade the springs and at least check the stock pushrods.

FWIW:
I have a good friend of mine that builds competition engines. He found a source for high quality drop in springs, that reuse the stock retainers and locks. No shims, and a variety of spring pressures 130-175, so whatever I need. Best part, they are half the price of whats available now. I am hesitant to recommend them because I have not run them myself, yet. Springs and push rods are on order, just the truck is completely apart. I do have the same brand in my 480 hp firehawk.

Not trying to derail but the "wicked Wheel" you speak of is for the SD turbos.............Its the STOCK OBS compressor wheel.

And if your gonna do springs you maight as well do pushrods as well. If nothing else its the added assurance. Plus they aren't that hard on the wallet.
