My clutch has started grabbing when the pedal is pretty far out, it started slipping on me yesterday. Today it slipped a few times in my first tune once at 1750 rpm! I am pretty sure it is done, it seemed to just start is there something else that could be wrong?

P.S. I am looking for a new clutch if you or someone you know has one they dont need, let me know.

Thanks fellas

You'd need to pull it out to determine if it is worth salvaging. Lots of things to look at, but sometimes they just die. The stock clutches are pretty much limited to stock power levels.

If someone has a used clutch sitting around, it probably came out for the same reason yours did and is holding down a tarp corner.

Okay I drove the problem child some more today, the slipping got even worse, all i can figure is that the linings are just now wearing down to rivets? Any ideas on that? Also it kicked itself out of 4th gear a couple of times, which it has never done before, it scared the $hit out of me the first 2 times, I dont think it is related, but that certainly cannot be good, thoughts on that?

A friends e99 ate 4th gear when the clutch went bad, you had to hold it in gear or it would pop out and grind like crazy...scared the crap out of me first time I drove it with a load LOL...hope thats not the diagnosis of yours...a rebuild is not cheap sadly

Im just messing. Would a bad syncro cause this? He does have some iffy syncros in 2-4th gears i believe. Also has 300k miles racked up

I dont use 4th except for downshifting, acceleration I go from 2nd to overdrive for max smoke bra

Seriously thought, the syncros are a little tired, It will put up with one hell of a speedy shift from 1st to 2nd but you have to be slow and careful going into 3rd nd 4th and back down into 4th and 3rd and 2nd downshifting. What would it take to freshen them up?

I think its all the extra sloppy play in the input side kills them, not to mention bad synchros....I am not a tranny expert, that is something I refuse to work on. Might want to give these folks a call, I've heard lots of folks getting remans and parts from them, not to mention they make a zf6 short shifter...I'll get me one of those some day!
