Too much DCA?

I am going to be putting a coolant filter on my '97. WIX makes a filter that has 12 units of DCA built into the filter.

Is it possible to have too much DCA into the coolant?

Yes and it will attack your seals, at least that is what I am told.....

NAPA has filters with no DCA.

If you already have DCA in there use a no DCA filter on there or fresh coolant with no DCA

I put a bottle of WIX DCA in when i flushed the radiator a couple months ago. I need to pick up a couple of the test strips and check it.

I am going to pick up some of the test strips. I wonder if the local parts store has them.

Not likely. I usually get those at IH.

I will be by an International dealer tomorrow so I will pick them up.

Are they just stick them in the reservoir tank and it will turn a certain color?

Yes you dip them and then compare it to a color chart. Fleetgaurd is the ones I have used in the past. Hopefully they will have the 3 packs of them.

I can get the test strips at any of the locally owned parts stores around here.

Check the expiration date on the strips before you buy.

It takes 3-1/2 to 4 pint bottles of the FW-16 or Fleetgard DCA for the right concentration of DCA for the 32 quart cooling system.
