18mm socket on the crank bolts is how I usually do it. I've only ever done one trans cab on tho

You can't rotate the converter once the Trans is bolted up....turning the engine over only spins the flex plate. You need to get the torque converter in the correct orientation before you put the Trans up, so the bolts line up. If u rotate the flex plate til U get the converter to line up there is no way of telling if u have the correct orientation. As I'm assuming U have a dpc converter and they are for 6.0 and 6.4's. So have 6 or 8 hole patterns

You can't bolt the trans up unless the converter studs are through the flexplate though.

With a precision converter you're correct.

I build a bump switch out of a window switch, works great. On precision converters it has bolts. I lined up one hole put bolt in, when you get to the next hole you will know if its right or not. If its not just bump it back over remove bolt and try again, that's how I did mine anyway.
