Does the truck feel like the converter is tight in drive ? By tight I mean like you have to hold the brake harder than u did before to keep the truck from moving .

If so that means it could be dragging clutches .

Need more info tho...

I get a surging feel as soon as it locks up. Clutches in tranny look good. Its wasting the torque converter clutches. Pan is full of clutch material

Did you replace any solenoids? It literally takes a fraction of trash to cause problems in these trucks valve body and solenoids. I would start by draining all fluids. Get a new trans cooler and external filter. Use trans flush in the lines that run from the cooler to the transmission or replace them. Once you do that go ahead and have someone that knows what they are doing completely go through the valve body. Also have them check your solenoids and or replace them. I went through this issue and I basically replaced everything I just told you till it was corrected. If there is trash in it your radiator also has transmission lines running to it and I went ahead and put a new radiator in as well. Maybe Morgan can chime in but he will enlighten more about the trash and how it can cause all kind of issues like yours. It sucks and can add up to some bucks. I had to have my trans rebuilt as well as have my convertor redone 7 times before I finally did the above and it cured all my issues.
