Okay, so something really weird happened to me in the tow rig the other day. I noticed when coasting, the idle was a bit higher. It was around 775-825 RPM's, where it is usually around 625 RPM's. I also noticed the fan kicked on (loud howl/roar) and so I pulled into WalMart. There was a small cloud of smoke billowing out above the passenger side headlight. Opened it, it seemed to be coming from below the passenger side battery. I assumed that maybe it was the heater, as when I first turned it on that day I smelled something burnt. Turned the truck off. Restarted it with the heater off. No smoke. I also noticed the battery light kicked on for a second or two.

It hasn't happened since, but the idle is still high, and the fan roar is present as soon as I start the truck. And I don't know what's going on... No codes (except for the battery light, but it's now gone).

Only mods are 4" MBRP Exhaust w/ DPF/DOC delete and H&S Mild "No Power" Tune.

Your alternator is packing it's **** to leave town.

I have only ever seen alternators fail on 6.4's in this manner, it's kind of unusual.
