Supposed to be racing in Ford vs Chevy this weekend but I suppose that isn't going to happen now. Ran it last weekend and it did good considering the torque converter had the wrong stall. Was running 12.2's at 116 with a 2.1 sixty foot because I couldn't grt on top the turbo.

So I order a DPC Quad disc with a 2400 stall. It gets here Friday, I drop the truck off Monday as instructed. Naturally they don't touch it 'til today. They get the converter in, said it went thru the gears, and now it's acting like it's in neutral.

Anybody have any ideas?

I knew I should've waited 'til after the event. Knew it was gonns get jacked up some kinda way. :smh:

I wasn't gonna fish thru your Facebook post. Does it act like neutral all the way thru. Park included? Any codes? Are they damn sure they seated the converter fully? I'll almost bet the converter didn't seat and busted the gerotor in the pump

Broke the pump, low fluid (or filter fell off or bad converter. Throw a line pressure gauge on it and if its ok swap the old converter back in and spray and pray.

agreed you have to be careful seating the converter all the way and keeping it there on the way to bolting it all together if it slips forward and unseats when you pull everything together you force the converter on at the wrong orientation and destroy the engagement flange

but you would think a shop would have the procedure dialed it ?

So went and talked to him this morning. He said they put the converter in, let it run at an idle for about 15 minutes, then drove it about a block. It went thru the gears and then just acted like it was in neutral. They put a scanner on it and still showed that the pump was spinning and making pressure (he didn't remember how much). No codes.

I checked the fluid and it is nice and clean, still new looking actually. So I told him to go ahead and pull the converter back out and to call me when he does so I can go look at it. Gonna have it out tomorrow.

As of right now I'm gonna slap the old one back in barring anything unusual (which is very possible with my luck as I'm sure everyone knows by now :p ) and see what happens. If that doesn't work it will be 4R time.

Have em put a line pressure gauge on before they pull it apart it would suck to swap converters and find out the filter is laying in the pan. Lol

there is no internal pressure sender the only way to see psi is with an external gauge

Yeah, I went and put a manual gauge on it. No racing for ZMBYKLR this weekend. Off to Truck Source Diesel next weekend for a 4R swap.

they didn't drop the pan they just swapped torque converters

so if anything went wrong it was at the converter mating IMO

Correct. From his description of what they did I'm pretty certain he didn't seat it properly. That's what I get for not doing it myself.
