Looked like the rear of pan was leaking, dropped it down, new gasket. fluid is still pooling up.

Itsahrd to tell if it the seam of the tail shaft or indeed the pan.. I have never really done much work on a trans.

Any guess as to what it may be?

Did you torque the pan down evenly? I would wipe every thing down try and narrow down the source of the leak.

Yeap. 11 ft lbs. My understanding is that there is your rear seal, gasket between trans and t case, than another seal on t case. Any special tools need to change these seals? Any part numbers?

It's the tail shaft housing gasket I bet. I had mine blow out a 1" section somehow. I thought it was the pan. Bought a new pan and gasket. Didn't help. Finally took the tailshaft housing off and the gasket was missing a section on the bottom.

Edit: 4r100 or 5r110?

Id also check the POS design filler tube in the casing. I had the oring fail and it leaked down the top of the trans all the way to the back before it dripped off the back, making it seem like the back 3 bolts were leaking.

I dropped the case and out shot the pawl... The spring looked like it was broke on the one end, but it only fit into the case one way... I hope it went back together like this...

Mine didn't pop out. And I don't remember how the spring went in since I didn't really pay attention to it. Yours looks right to me...
