Hey all, I sold a friend of mine a Suncoast tranny for his 6.4 awhile back. Shortly after he had it installed it wouldn't shift into gear when its cold. It worked fine for me when I had it but what could be causing this? I'm thinking its a solenoid??? Also, its only when you first pull it into gear, it shifts through the others just fine.

No gearss? Like reverse, 1,2,3,D? Ifs more than likely a solenoid issue

Yeah, he can drop it into reverse or drive and nothing until you rev it up a little or it warms up. Of course, revving it up isn't good because it slams into gear then lol. Which solenoid would cause this?

Not 100% but i believe the direct solenoid controls that. Have you checked fluid?

Ok, so a friend of mine hooked the truck up to a Snap On scanner and it wouldn't connect to the TCM. It kept saying "Control module connection incorrect". The truck also has a Spartan TCM in it, could the TCM be bad?

scanner is a snap on modis just updated last monday. would read codes under the tcm category and found no codes in memory, koeo, or koer. however when i tried to do functional test on the trans, it wouldnt link up and says conditions incorrect, and from what ive read under the trouble shooter on that thing certain conditions have to be met such as being in park or nuetral, has to be at operating temp, no vss codes present, ect. all those conditions were met on my end. but still wouldnt link up. maybe beings that its a spartan tcm its calibrated differently?? idk just thought id share some info on what i did there. i use the modis on daily basis and i never have a problem linking up to any of the modules on any vehicle.
