Has anyone attempted this? Know where a how-to is?? I've been planning it for about 4 years now, and I'm just tired of the transfer case issues... Mainly, the sound/noise, that it makes...

So... I have 2 cases, I want to make 1, and freshen it up while I'm in there. Probably at least change the one bearing I know has an issue instead of swapping it with the other case like I've been planning.

You sure the noise is in the t-case and not in the front drive line? Those things are pretty tough and rarely fail unless they are ran out of fluid.

T-case rebuilds are super easy with the right tools. A good set of snap ring pliers, and a set of blind hole pullers are a must - everything else is pretty self explanatory.

It's definitely in the rear output. Does it at all times.

I need to get some good snap ring pliers....

I'm thinking I need the #54 ball bearing, but I'm not sure... There's something back there, not grinding, but it just sounds like two things aren't matching up right. It's possible that I just need to replace all of it back there, which is why I got the donor case. Getting part numbers 44-49 off are what is kicking my ass... I just cant seem to figure it out, and now all of the ears on the donor case are broken off...

I do have the case split though, and I could probably figure out the swap easy, but I'd like to be SURE and only have to do it once...

Hey Dave, what type of snap ring pliers would you recommend for those annoying snap rings with no holes?

Yeah. That'd be a lock ring plier. Should work for you if i'm envisioning the clip you are describing correctly.
