Transmission question

Iam sure there is already a thread posted about this and if there is could someone post a link for it?
Iam getting to the point where I need a transmission and I see where some people run the 4R100 over the 5R110 what exactly are the benefits of this? I guess I kind of want the pros and cons of running the 4R100.

The benefit is that the programming for a 4R100 is MUCH simpler. It is VERY difficult to make a tune to run a 5R110 correctly.

What about fuel mileage between the two? One less gear on the 4R....does that make a difference?

Yes, it does. All else being equal more gears = more fuel economy.

unless you plan on making a ton of HP stick with the 5r. it cost alot to switch to a 4r and alot of tuning time. and when i mean a ton of hp im talking prob 800+ if you ask me. other than that stick with 5r unless your just dying to do a 4r swap
