Ok guys, got some questions on an automatic transmission.
It's an 03 ex, 7.3l, limited. Approximately 150xxx miles. I bought it back in January, just now getting time to do work on it. Everything's stock, except for intake, exhaust, and gearheads tunes, and an adrenalin pump, all of which were installed within the last month. This is mama's truck, gonna stay stock, except the above.
What kind of durability should I expect out of this trans, assuming she does the driving, not me? It's done some towing in its previous life, no idea how much. I bought it with airbags on the rear, and a pretty beefy hitch. I'm looking at durabilty upgrades, not so much "racing" upgrades. Everything appears correct, shifting wise, fluid looks good, etc.
And yes I'm aware of BTS, just not sure I need to drop that kind of coin for this application!
Thanks for any advice and opinions.

Install a bigger trans cooler and drive it. When it breaks give John Wood, BTS, or the Ford dealer a call.

It can be hit or miss, still on my stocker at 277,000 miles. If you don't want a lifetime warranty built to hold any HP. The HD4R100 from Ford seems like a decent option.

Add a 6.0 cooler and maybe a VB, and just wait til it fails.

Ask yourself it it fails in the worst place she drives at the worst time...whats the outcome...for this same reason I replaced my wifes Excursion trans before it fails...

If you deside your going to keep the Exc..then get a BTS, last trans you will buy..We drop ship best price.
