I have an 01 6 speed 7.3 that just started causing me problems. If I have it in neutral and rev it up I can hit about 1300 rpm give or take and it dies. No warning or anything. Just like it shuts off. But when I am in gear and driving I can rev it to higher rpm and it doesn't have a problem at all. (I only had it in 4 low and didn't drive it too much with the ice we've got today so I didn't get to test it through all the gears though). It has been a real cold day with freezing rain and bad weather though.. not sure if that would make it act like this or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Check your fuel pressure, if its low it could be the in-line screens in the sending unit. If fuel pressure is good and there are no codes it may be time for injectors.

If its any of that would it not still die when I'm in gear? That's what is keeping me from thinking its anything major.
