Hey guys, my truck has done this since o got it but now it seems worse, when I crank up my truck it catches and sounds like a sputter when it cranks over then is normal. Not sure if this is normal thing or what. You know how a pulling truck sounds like when its trying to spool up? Kinda like that and only does it as soon as it cranks over. May be fuel pump? I also think my fuel pump is the culprit of the fuel leak. Its soaking wet around it and I dry it with brake clean driven it and its wet again.. not sure.

It only does it at certain times. Mainly when its warm. I started it today and it started like normal.

Do you have a way to monitor fuel pressure?

This sounds like an ICP or IPR issue to me, but check fuel pressure if you can.

No, I'm not sure how you do it. I'm completely new to the powerstrokes. Only had truck for couple months. I don't really worry about into was just wondering what it could be.

Your fuel pump is a mechanically driven pump that runs off the cam shaft. It also has a weep hole that leaks when the pump is bad.

I'll try and see if I can get a video but it might not be noticeable with a video. I've got a fuel leak and I bought a fuel bowl reseal kit and I have to reseal it but I really think the leak is from the fuel pump. The pump is sailing wet. I dried it off with brakecleen and drove it and its soaking wet again. I guess I'll find out when I do a reseal on the bowl. Wish I had an e fuel...

I will do the fuel pump if this don't fix it. I'm kinda nervous about the reseal. I have no experience doing a reseal and scared of little parts... lol. But I've taken a flashlight and looked right behind the fuel bow and all around the bowl and its not wet looking. The pump is wet and the little valley in front of the pump is wet and the little valley Behring the pump is wet. Only thing I was nervous about on pump is the little thing that can drop into the motor and how I would get the banjo bolt on/off. I tried to tighten it the other day and I couldn't even get a wrench on it because the line were in the way.......

You can get a regular 1-1/4" box-end wrench on it, should have just enough bend to work. And when i did my pump i just loosened up the pump bolts, and jumped the starter solenoid to pop the pump out of the block.

Ya I heard you could take and turn the motor by hand until the cam pushes it up. Anybody done a fuel bowl reseal? How hard is it?

Be prepared to replace some of the rubber fuel lines when you remove the fuel pump and or bowl, they will most likely be brittle and worn out
