Well I moved my truck this morning, everything was fine. Went out with the family to head to the hardware store, jump in and turn the key and nothing, I mean absolutely nothing. No gauge movement, no radio kicking on. It's like the batteries are completely dead but I know that's not the case. I turned the key a couple times thinking some miracle will happen and the truck would start, sadly not the case. But i did start hearing a "bzzz, bzzz, bzzz" under the dash. Crawl under and it seems to be the factory Antitheft system (right in front of the door chime box under the dash). It sits there and buzzes the same rhythm it usually does if I open the door without unlocking with the key (like when the windows are down and ND rend I hit the button). The lights don't flash or anything all I get is the buzzing sound from the box and absolutely no power to the ignition. Has anyone else had this happen to them, any way to diagnose it or bypass it? Need to try to figure this out myself, on disability from work and don't have the funds to take it to a shop to figure it out. Thanks for any opinions or advice.

Can't really figure out how to post the video from tapatalk. Hope that works.
That's the only thing the truck will do. If I unplug the black connector it stops but the truck is still dead.

Yes batteries tested seperately. Gauges don't move, not WTS light. Glowplugs dont kick on. No interior or exterior lights. I did get a brief gauge movement when I hooked batteries back up, for about 2 secs in the run position, but they quickly shut down and the keyless entry box started buzzing again. I don't see the "theft" dash light blinking either now that I think of it. Tried hooking my multimeter to the fuse panel and nothing has power. I don't know what's up.

2 month old reman pcm, brand new tunes that have been working for the 3 days since I received them back. Truck moved fine when I first started it this morning. I don't know.

Get the volt meter out and start checking voltages. If nothing lights up it may be the main battery cable going to the fender mounted solenoid. Also check both grounds, the odds of both of them going at once is slim but you may of had a bad one and then the second one went bad.

I agree ^^^ with him. Check all the battery connections and the positive coming into the starter solenoid on the fender and the wire coming out and going down to the starter.

If both grounds were bad? I wouldn't get anything would I? My door chime still works and I do get the gauges to jump if I take my positives off for 10 mins or so and then it all starts again? I'll check the solenoid tho after dinner.

I've already checked all my fuses with my meter and nothing has power to it.

Checked batteries again, 12v...solenoid has 12v...battery cable to starter 12v, altenator has 12v to battery cable. What else do I need to check? I still don't register again on the fuses.

Also checked the under good fuse box, nothing blown and the meter is reading about 9.8v on the hot ones.

You are just going to have to use your meter to find where the voltage drop is occurring at. You also really need a EVTM to trace out the wiring harness but it can be done without one but it takes time to do it. It sounds like you have either a blown fusable link or a high resistance open between the relay on the fender and the main power distribution box on the drivers side fender.

Well I don't know what I did, but I managed to get it started. I pulled the cables again and really really cleaned them, the had some oxidation on the inside of the connectors and the crossover wire to the other battery was a little lose. Did that and bingo truck started. only thing I can guess is maybe the oxidation was blocking the current and enough was trickling thru to trigger the Antitheft system dunno if that is possible. But all that matters is the truck is back on the road. Thanks for all the help guys.

these are BAD about corroding inside the cover of the cable, you can't see it and think its clean. It might not be back on the road for long if that's the case, but at least you know where to look now.

Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of help most the time. Would always be nice to have an extra set of hands but usually not the case for me. I have another set of OEM cables in the garage so if it does it again I could swap them on. Figures my truck does this the day I start thinking about putting it up for sale to search for an Excursion.

When the s clamps get that dark oxidized look it's time to clean them. I take a scotch pad and wire brush with drill to them until they are shiny again and coat them with terminal protector
