I recentley fully rebuilt my 6.4 after finding a cracked piston. I bleed the system and i can get the truck to fire, but it wont stay running for more than a few seconds. Then when i go to bleed the and the system is compleatley full of air again after the truck dies. Also hear a phssst noise each time the engine turns over. even with the turbos off and cranking the engine i cant seem to find anything wrong. :fustrate: Any Thoughts?

found code: 2291
HPFP showed no signs of wheakness before i took her apart

Mine was apart for months and required no bleeding, although did have a leak at the double banjo for my duel fuelers. That probably bled some air out, I fixed the leak and she fired right up. Did you use a new hpfp gasket/ harness?

Sounds like sucking air. Maybe a line on the hpfp didn't get torque or over torqued, seen that before. But the run for a few seconds then die. Try leaving the bleed fitting in and go ahead and start and see if it stays running and what's the air flow threw a clear hose.

Dual fuelers are super forgiving about air in the system compared to a single pump.

I ask the oil pressure thing because I have seen one do that with a gauge in place of the sensor

New HPFP harness/gasket was used.
oil pressure was read with a gage in the top of my aluminum oil cap. I made sure i Had oil pressure before i pluged in the HPFP.
one thing that may be problematic, is when i installed the lines from the HPFP to the rails. I tightened the lines before i put on the line clamps on. so it may have bent the lines a bit.

did you put the sensor back in the oil filter base then? What im sayin is if the computer doesnt see oil pressure it willl shut the engine right back off.

The lines are tougher than you would think they should be fine

If it starts i would say there are no high pressure fuel leaks, most of the time a high pressure leak wont start, Ive seen one so bad you could start it on either it would run fine but wouldnt restart

sounds like its sucking air from somewhere to me

I feel like its stucking air too just dont know where it would be?

Tried bleedind again. I got the truck to fire but still dies. one thing that seems odd to me is when im cranking the engine and have the banjo bolt loose it shoots vaporized fuel/air out of the banjo bolt. is that normal?
oil senser is pluged in.

How many times did you cycle the key and loosen the banjo? Ford recommends like 6-8 cycles which is a little overkill but if you only did it once that could be your problem

Whats your rail pressure do while cranking and while running?

are you sure your fuel lines are plumbed correctly, stupid question probably but i gotta ask

All i got to read rail pressure with is H&S and screen goes dark when cranking.

I understand about the fuel lines i wondered myself lol. so I printed off the fuel syspem PDF and looked them all over and they are correct.

Ive cycled many times but typicaly after the 5th cycle i dont get any more air, but just to be safe i did andditional 5 with nothing but fuel. with the rear bleeder cracked as soon as i hit the starter it shoots fuel/vapor.

Also if i crank it over then check the fuel bowl its almost empty, but when i turn on the key the bowl fills in seconds

Haven't looked, but is there any way combustion gasses could enter the fuel system besides the injector nozzle?
