So after two months of bouncing back and forth between a couple different setups I think I've decided on the 7.3l 99'-00' ZF6 4x4.. At first it was between a 24v Cummins and any 7.3l between 99'-03' but the 53 block was all I have been finding and any hope of finding a clean unmolested 12v is all but lost. The powder metal rods have made me nervous but im not planning on adding more then 100hp, that may not exclude the later models. I really dont care either way whether its auto or standard but a tranny build is one less thing to worry about. This will be my first pickup so I figure why not do it right and all my research points to the Ford.
Basically what I'm wondering is I'm about to make the plunge on a one-owner 2000 zf6 4x4 reg cab with 125k miles. The dealer wants 14000 and basically I just want to know how bad am I getting screwed? This setup seems very rare and everything I've looked at has had the piss ran out of it (even then they want over kbb value), one even was smoking like a choo-choo train out the oil fill... Thanks!
