I was thinking about running the sct itsx on my 2005 excursion. Any pros or cons. I'm not looking to turn it up too much just more looking for gauge read outs as there is currently a tune on it but am not sure what it is. Purchased the truck recently and haven't torn it apart yet to see what all is done. All I know for sure is an EGR delete, tune and a 6" lift. I'll know more once I tear it apart to replace the oil cooler. I'm new to the diesel scene and looking for any info or little tricks anyone might be willing to pass my way.

Any of the SCT tuners are good to use on the 6.0L since they can accept custom tunes. The iTSX is not near as popular as the X3/X4 or Livewire though since it requires the use of a phone or tablet.

See I planned on mounting a 7" tablet that's why I was looking at the itsx. Will the itsx take a custom tune or are those preset? And I'll check out the x3/x4 but haven't heard of that one.

Yes, the iTSX will take custom tunes.

It is actually the SCT X3 and X4. Two different units. The X4 is the new version.

If you are considering a good Gauge set up look at our Infinity. The iTSX is ok and SCT has great products, but for gauges it doesn't have near the level as the Infinity does. Jody has used it in my 05 6.0l and having to keep wifi on and use the phone wasn't realistic for someone who is on his phone constantly and uses it for almost everything.

below is a list of what the Infinity offers

-Screen size (4.3")
-Number of pids (depends on vehicle: usually 200-350)
-Number of pids on the screen at one time and read-15
-Audible and visual notifications
-Open source screen layouts and alerts
-Datalog speed and start buffer (25-68 readings per second depending on what is being logged)(log starts 15-30 seconds before pushing button so nothing is missed)
-Removable memory card (included with purchase of Infinity)
-Datalogs can be viewed on Mac, Windows, Android, & Apple
-Custom tune support
-Email tune support for Mac etc
-Cei hub (8 additional sensors, dual EGT, and chip switching)
-Custom formulas (ex. E99 and OBS trans temp)
-Screen sleep to prevent boot up
-Auto dim/brightness
-Multiple mounting solutions
-Enhanced Ford and GM
-GM Volt
-Ford UDS
-Chrysler
-Generic OBD
-2 external analog inputs with serial cable
-Multiple vehicle profiles (7.3, 6.0, 6.7, EcoBoost)
-Metric support
-Custom startup screen
-Custom splash screen
-0-60 times
-Quarter and 1/8 mile
-Log setup for screen signals and global signals
-Check/clear codes
-KOER, buzz, glow plug, KOEO, cyl bal
-Log to CSV, Leitronix, LogWorks

your infinity looks legit...but might be too smart for me lol damn! this is going to sound stupid but also the other reason I was looking at the itsx is I do not own a computer, just tablets. so is there any other way to add tunes without the use of a computer? I was thinking with the itsx and one of my tablets I could easily transfer and swap out tunes? never put a tuner on a vehicle so still learning the ins and outs

Yes, on this page it shows you how can be used with Apple and android tablets. 4th video down.

http://www.dp-tuner.com/dp-tuner-tv/infinity.html

having a laptop or desktop is not required to load tunes or store data.
