I'm going through my E99 motor a bit before I re-install it and I found the EBP plug on the pedestal unplugged. Some history: The blow off valve also had the vac line to it unplugged when I got it but I plugged it back in, and I had the up pipes leaking and possibly the intake leaking the whole time i've owned it.
So, I'm not sure what the "thing in the pedestal" does or when it does it but I've read people are deleting it. Since I've never had it working anyways, should I delete it or get a different pedestal without it? Or repair/plug it back in?

Thanks.

Also, any links to info on the EBP valve would be appreciated, gotta learn sometime

I would say delete it if you are not going to use it. Other people use it as a make shift engine brake. I deleted mine, I believe that it lets more exhaust air out for a better flow, which in turn lower egt's. Real easy cut off the two heads of the rivets that hold the flat plate on and then pull the rod out and I plugged mine with a 20 mm freeze plug. Done. As far as the plug well I got a new pediatal from beans so I don't worry about it.

OK, delete the valve.

But the sensor I want to work? Clean that crusty tube the sensor is attached to and all

For anyone who gets curious, it turns out the ebp sensor does have a small effect on fuel and timing tables. The entire passage on mine from the sensor to the manifold was filled with hard crud. I drilled out the manifold passage and replaced the tube. The sensor will likely need to be replaced too.

As reference, my ebv sensor was obviously clogged for a looong time and I still managed 19mpg average.

I think more correctly said it "CAN" have an effect not it "WILL". My understanding it which is limited the tables using this can disable or changed to not use the EBP output changes. Does this sound correct Dave?

I believe that is also how Bill put it as well. "It can" not " It will" He was also speaking in reference to stock tuning or tuning that uses the output of the EBP. I think that is also what he meant by this:
On a 6.0L, a clogged EBP Sensor/Tube will have a SIGNIFICANT effect on performance when you use a Non-Inferred EBP strategy.

Meaning a different strategy would not have this same effect. For those that didn't read the link it then goes on to speak how a very minor amount of this can happen with the 7.3 in a like situation. So where a 7.3 tune is setup using the output changes of the EBP it can have an effect but if not then no.
