Turbo rebuild

So I took my turbo apart to rebuild it and can't get the comp wheel off the shaft. How does it come off and any suggestions? And any sorts of tips for rebuilding it?

Hold the exhaust wheel & use an impact to zip off the compressor wheel. Sometimes an impact will shock it enough to zip it off without holding it.

I just put a vise grip around the nub on the exhaust side and used an impact to take off the comp wheel.

Ok well which way do you have to take it off? I mean is it the standard righty tighty lefty loosey or backwards from that? And is there any chance of snapping the shaft?

Standard stuff. Lefty loosey. I doubt you will snap that shaft. My turbo had 230,000 miles on it when I took it off. It took a few tries, but if eventually came off. Just make sure your vice grips have a good grip on the little nub.
