Turbo testing, VGT vs. Non VGT

I will be doing this later this year and Just wanted to see how much interest there was in the results. I will be comparing MTW stage 4 against a fully tricked out Stainless Diesel S366, because the 66 seems to be a popular choice. All the testing will be done in Georgia at PHP, the tests will consist of Dyno, street manners, towing, fuel mileage and track times. I will be sending my injectors off to have them bumped up to 225s, I will be running the MTW turbo on the truck till the testing. The test truck will be my 03 with 242k on it right now, its a manual for now, may or may not get a 4r swap before then just depends on funds.

Just wanted to see who would like to see this happen, with all the threads on VGT vs. Non VGT thought it would be nice to have some real world testing and comparison to show all the pros and cons of both for street use.

Seeing all the comparisons for the manual before switching to auto and running the tests again would make this experiment that much more thorough. To see which type trans acts different for a vgt or non-vgt so each trans user knows in which market to shop.

I'm curious to see the results as well! The only thing that worries me is that I wasn't really satisfied with my non vgt until I got divided up pipes as well. Now I love it

I don't care what turbo has a better showing, I just want to do a head to head comparison for some good solid info on both turbos, heck maybe it will sway me lol.

I would like Jessica Alba to be in my bed when i get home but that isnt gonna happen, would be nice but not realistic. Each charger will be live tuned and dialed in on the dyno and street before we do the testing, that's about the best I can do.

Agreed. I have your MPD manifolds and t4 divided up pipes on my truck and it made a world of difference!
