this sucks.
A while back I had a weird noise, rapid loud clunk, that ended up being my passenger side up pipe hitting a bolt from the firewall.
That's when I found this.

Shortly after it popped

Didn't make sense why it was all deformed at first but it sure did later.

Sent the set back to the manufacturer for warranty analysis.
manufacturer wasn't going to replace cause they said I got it over 2000 degrees and melted it, and only that side to, they said the driver side pipe looked fine.

Wouldn't 2k of sustained heat that can melt an up pipe melt stock pistons well before that?
And just one side got hot?
I never seen EGT's even come close to 2k.
most I ever seen was 1700.
It only touched 1700, big difference between sustaining 2k and touching 1700.
running stock fuel, stock injectors with about every air upgrade.

They offered to sell me a another set at cost so I took their offer instead of throwing a big ol fit and ruining a good relationship.

About 3-400 miles later with the new up pipes on my vgt starts sticking and there is a different tone from the exhaust.

Took off the turbo's and sent to elite cause they were willing to look them over and clean em up under warranty even though the warranty had expired, this is what they found.

That's what was removed from the atmo turbine, the inner liner of a flexible bellow.

Made more sense why that up pipe was deformed now before it split. The inner liner was coming apart.

Is that common way for flexible bellows to fail?

Does anyone have a set of cores they dont need cause it looks like I need a set.

Thanks guys.

Anyone seen bellows come apart like that before.
I mean, I'm sure they have.

Is there a high quality rigid bellow?

I'd take cracked pipes over this any day.

Might look at inconel or monel if your seeing extended temperatures at high back pressures.it's not just one or the other but both that cause issues.also stainless has nearly 75% higher thermal expansion than carbon steel while inconel actually is lower.but I'd call rcd again and see what's up.
