I just got done replacing my stock compressor wheel with an xdp x-wheel and everything went pretty smoothly aside from one snapped bolt got the taken care of .. But my queston is

I'm not sure if my up-pipe is seated 100% to my exhaust inlet once everything was done I went for my first test drive had no boost pressure went had my buddy look under the hood while I throttled up n immediately saw smoke comin out from between that 90* exhaust y pipe and the turbo inlet on the exhaust side . So we went back over it n got it tight as possible (careful not to snap the t-bolt ... Again) and now I have boost pressure but not nearly what I had stock
Also the v band clamp tht came off wouldn't come together enough to get the stock t-bolt thru to get the nut on so we used a 6" lag bolt

ANY TIPS OR SUGGESTIONS GREATLY APPREICIATED.

those are a pain. are the gaskets for the y any good? those get pretty bad and will leak alot to. also make sure the o-ring didn't fall out of the turbo where your intake spyder gets clamped to it. if the clamp would not come together enough to get the nut started you probley don't have the y seated to the turbo correctly is my guess.

If you had to use a longer bolt on the clamp, you don't have the clamp in place right.

there's no gasket at the turbine inlet (turbo) where it connects to the collector (cast iron y-pipe)..

there is a dimple and a 'tit'..that have to line up (on the turbine inlet & collector) for the v-band clamp to seat/seal/work correctly.

the heat/exhaust that is pissing all over your engine compartment is what is supposed to be driving the turbine wheel inside the turbo...to make the boost.

loosen everything back up (no need to remove bolts yet...align the tit/dimple, tighten that connection first...then the pedestal bolts...then the up-pipes at exhaust manifolds..then, lastly the up-pipe to collector bolts (top/behind turbo).

its a real btch, I didn't get mine seated right the first time and had a huge leak. when i went to fix it I think I ended up doing that clamp first before anything else despite recommendations, and I'm pretty sure I completely unbolted my up pipes from the manifolds. Use the stock bolt. That way you know you have it correct when you get it

:whs:

Been there, done that.

Loosen everything up again, line up the dimple with the tit, make sure it seats fully in, and tighten everything back up.

The v-band will then go on as normal.

Congrats.

I replaced uppies the first time took me 30 min. The second time 25 min. The third time I fought that bitch for 4 hours.

When you get it "in" you will know.
