I have a few questions that i would love answered
heres the info its an 08 with 180k and 5500 hours on the motor
it has a dpfr+ tune thing with a dpf and egr delete
truck was deleted at around 150k
it was manufactured on 03/07

1)My biggest question is can i use my H&S mini max on the a truck that has a DPF R+ flash/tune?
2) looks like the oil was changed around 5 to 11k on average and the seller says that the fuel water separater drained at every
oil change

I know the oil should be change every 5k and the water separator once a month, what are you guys thoughts and opinions.

Make sure that the truck is set back to stock is the safest way I believe before programming with a MM. Not sure how those other tuners work.

Check and see if the water pump, radiator, coolant hoses, and t-states have been changed/replaced recently if ever. Also if it has ever had a coolant flush...

I'm anal about maintenance but everyone has their own preferences. I change all filters and oil at 5K regardless.

Check for excessive blow by as well.

thanks for the advise, is there a way to check how old the coolant is?

You can get coolant testers at any of your generic auto parts stores. Those will give you a good idea.

Get it compression checked. These trucks are pretty easily band aided making broke motors harder to detect.

That will possibly save you some headaches later on down the road.... Believe me. I've had my truck for 3 months and it's getting a new motor as we speak because it had a melted piston. Only 3500 miles on it since it was 'fully inspected and given a clean bill of health'. Needless to say, I'm staying away from my dealership.

for $325 they're not doing a true compression test, just plugging in the IDS and running through all the diagnostics.

I think you can find a better deal... That truck has a lot of hours on it. And if I'm understanding correctly, the fuel water separator was only drained at oil changes? Should be once a month minimum.

the guy wanted to bring it to a different dealership so they asked me what I would like done. I told them a compression check and injector flow rate both are done through the computer from my understanding. will the compression check tell me if there's a cracked piston or dad cylinder, also are there any other things I should have my check to the computer?

Why would you ever buy a truck with 180k....

Because it is possible it may last another 180K.. Some people can't afford or don't want a huge payment or would rather not empty there bank account on a truck..
