Ok so yesterdayI heard squeaking coming from the unfer the hood. So I pop the hood and the vacum pump is squeaking :fustrate: , but its not from the pulley slipping it is coming from the pump kinda. Well the pulley rod is moving in and out and when it does it squeaks really loud and its annoying  . It only squeaks when the pulley is pushed out (and that is when it is lined up, when its in it isnt lined up with the rest of the pulleys). Well do I have to replace it or is there a way I can tighten it.

Yea I keep two belts in mine, long story lets just say the auto zone guy was a retard, along with different size hoses. I have a parts list that I wanna get and keep in the truck but the ol lady say I dont need it till it really need it. One of these days she is going to be with me and we are going to get stuck out some where then I can say "I told you so"

I printed off the OBS parts list, and it saved my butt on my trip to Cali.
My vacuum pump dumped all it's guts across the interstate in Nebraska. I coasted to a stop 50 feet from the 110 mile marker on I80. I never heard a thing. No squeak, no squeal, no growl, nothing. Only reason I knew something was wrong was because the steering was hard. The shaft of the vac pump finally destroyed the bearings enough that the belt slipped off and I lost power steering & alternator.
The NAPA I called couldn't find the pump part number to see if they had one in stock, but they could cross-reference the fomoco number to their number.

But, since I didn't have the pulley pressing tool, I shelled out $375 for parts & a tow. What would have been a $150 bill more than doubled.

FWIW, Steve of Steve's towing & recovery from Julesburg, Co is a really nice guy. He used to be the PSD tech at the ford dealer before he went independent and opened his own shop.

More pictures.

Out of both bearings in that housing (at least, I think there were two bearings), there were exactly 2 balls left when I unbolted it from the flange at the side of the road.
Just 2 days ago I was under the hood checking out something else unrelated and found the plug from the back of the housing. It got blown out of the housing and jammed between the power steering pump and the LH exhaust manifold.

When I started that morning, there was absolutely no noise from the pump. It basically went from operating just fine, to completely grenaded in 250 miles. No warning what so ever.

Well i went to NAPA because ford couldnt get it for 3 days and no one else had one, and I need my truck. Temp fix for now till i get it ordered from Ford. Well whenI took off the pulley, I saw what had been making all the noise. The bearing housing (whatever you wanna call it) had explodedand there was only 3 balls left. I dont think I would have made it any furthere than I did today.

mine went out about a month ago, driving home one nite and started chirping. got home backed in and shut it off. Next morning jump in the truck, fire it up, no brakes no steering, jump out and there is the pulley laying on the ground.
