I have a 08 F350 6.4, and the VGT actuator does not go thru a self test when the ignition is KOEO. I can move the arm and there is nothing stopping its movement, when i have the KOEO i can also move the arm fully and the actuator will start to work. the questions i have is 1: is there a fuse that would cause this, i have looked and found nothing open? 2: has anyone had this problem and what did you do to fix it? 3: does anyone have documentation on the wiring and the ohm reading for the actuator?
Thanks

actuator

You will need a new actuator.

Also it is a real pain to do actuator because your going to need special tool to push actuator hyme joint out of lever properly ,otherwise your going to be doing a turbo in it .

Only way to check for sure is command vvt actuation duty cycle% and move it back and forth with scan tool.

Pm me if you need a price on actuator .

Guys, I might have the same problem.

My Actuator is stuck at 95.1% Duty Cycle, I can move it by hand, engine on or off. Engine on, it will develop boost, as soon let go, it returns to its 95.1%.

When key on, its doing its self test but just move 1/8 in each direction.

What could be my problem? I will try to dictate duty cycle, and what will that mean.

If I need to change Actuator, it is just a recalibrating process, right?
Thanks
Erik

Is your EGR deleted? If so where is your EBP sensor, stock location or mounted uptop with the block off plate? EBP plays a direct role in controlling the turbos, with the VGT actuator controling them. Maybe your EBP sensor or tube is full of junk and needs to be cleaned, try that first and start there

Thanks for the reply;

I bought the truck deleted, EGR Delete and DPF Delete. I should have said that!
The EBP, the MAP and BARO all indicates within .4 from each other, and are all clean. The EBP is at the Top at the rear drivers side. I also have H&S Mini Max with stock Tune.

If it were the fuse for the actuator the truck wor not start, as it's on the same circut as the hpfp. Like already said you need a new actuator. If you buy a used one get the rod with it and just unbolt it from the arm on the turbo. Iirc a new one is like 700$
