Just a quick question to see if truck would react- with my setup, I do not have the vgt solenoid hooked up (plug is just tu ked away tied to main harness). Would it behoove me to plug solenoid in and let it lay in engine valley? Didn't know if this would benefit anything other than deleting a code, truck runs fine with the code etc. Thanks in advance!

I don't have mine in and no CEL. Innovative tunes. I know a few others are the same. From what I've read it means I wont get ANY CEL for anything though, but not sure how accurate that is.

Just talked to gearhead and they said to leave it plugged in..completes the fan clutch circuit. Also the reason to leave the egr valve plugged in.

My understanding on the fan was only certain strategies were set this way. My EGR valve has been off of the truck for a very long time and my fan definitely came on in that time. I have not got the truck hot enough to know if the fan is still working or not with the VGT solenoid gone. Only time before my fan come on was when I was constantly puking coolant and would get really low on coolant.

The tuners turn it off in the tuning for non vgt turbos. No need to plug it in.

My understanding of this is when they turn it off, the CEL wont come on for any reason at all. They can't turn off that one function, they literally just turn the CEL off, completely. It doesn't work like the EGR valve does, where they can just ignore that one part of it. At least the way I've learned it.

Yeah that's what I meant Mike...turning the CEL off, not turning the vgt solenoid itself off. Just so that the truck doesn't throw a CEL by not having it plugged in.

I didn't think there was any way to do it, either you get the CEL for not having it plugged in, or the tuner shuts the CEL off completely, no in between.

That's how Larz at gearhead explained it to me, innovative shuts the light off completely and gearhead leaves it on.

My fan works fine with no vgt solenoid fwiw
