Have a vac leak in my esof vac auto hubs on my 04 and the stock ones are starting to stick so im going to replace them with warn premium manual hubs. read somewhere about if you were going to swap and had working vac system for the hubs you need to plug the lines somewhere so that when in 4x4 the a/c heat system still works properly. im wondering what/where needs to be plugged so that with the manual hubs i can have my a/c or heat still work when in 4x4 and not just have defrost.

pics appreciated

Its all over on the passenger side fender. Just test it out, put the switch in 4x4 with the vacuum lines disconnected at the hubs. Put the key in the run position, with the engine off is the best way to test the vacuum. If the pump comes on and never shuts off, then you know its leaking vacuum.

If your vents default to the defrost position, then you know you will have to trace the vacuum lines back up to the vacuum reservoir, and plug it somewhere.

Its been so long since mine have worked, I'm not exactly sure where I plugged mine. I think in my case, the vacuum solenoid went bad and was leaking vacuum to my hubs or to atmosphere constantly, so I plugged the supply line feeding the solenoid. If your solenoid doesn't leak, you could just unplug the power wire or connector feeding 12 volts to it so it can't make the switch, and it will act as the plug.

I just realized that this is in the 6.0 section, and I have a 7.3. But the logic is still the same even if the parts are different.

And these are the vaccum lines at the bottom of the solinoid. Plug the one with vaccum.

I did this two years ago. I swapped my factory vaccuum hubs out for the warn premium ones at carquest. I never did anything to the vaccuum lines. 4x4 works awesome now and the hubs work flawlessly with only using one finger to turn them.

i have no leaks in any of the vaccuum lines. Everything works great when in 4x4...both the heat and A/C...no issues with anything. However if i did aquire a leak...i'm assuming i just plug one of the two lines that was pictured that connect to the 4x4 solenoid...correct? If so, i also assume it'd be the one that goes to the hubs? The lines that were pictured...is one line going into the solenoid and the other going out to the hubs then?

you would want to plug it before it goes into the solenoid valve on the fender

(that is the solenoid that varies duration and vacuum signal strength to the hubs to tell them to lock or unlock )

that would get all the unnecessary vacuum lines deactivated and avoid any future issues

A golf Tee and your done lol

ok thanks. I was gonna ask ya what would work best to plug the rubber boot on the line haha. Golf tee it is then lol. What would be the best way to test vaccuum to see which one of the two is the vaccuum line? Can i just unplug one and put my finger up to it and see if it sticks to my finger from suction? Assuming it needs to be in 4x4 tho when testing vaccuum.

You can start the truck and unplug the the lines. You will be able to feel which one has vacuum on it. I would just plug both to keep crap out of the other line.

Tell ya what I will go check and let you know
but it's the one from the vacuum pump going into the solenoid if you can see it?

but I like the idea of plugging both

ok, so both the lines that plug into the solenoid are for the hubs?

If you currently have no leaks, and your heater/AC doesn't default to defrost, then I wouldn't worry about plugging any lines.

It probably means that your solenoid doesn't work, but you no longer need it anyways with your manual lockouts. It sounds like your solenoid is acting as your plug.

I have no leaks and both my heat and AC works just fine in 4x4 and doesn't default to defrost. However i have noticed every once in a while when i key on to cycle the glow plugs...the vaccuum pump runs, but it doesn't run that long and it doesn't do it all the time.
